Restructional Archaeology. By the process of deconstruction the fabric of the second hand trousers is re-assembled and re-contextualized. If not re-worked the material is trapped in it's outdated shape and by its construction/silhouette difficult to re-use. By method the re-assembled parts come as close to being fabric again but is now three-dimensional due to the shapes and forms of their original fashion. The re-assembled fabric is ready for a new cut which put the cloth back in circulation of fashion but with the trace of history. Working with second hand garments is an archaeological action but without the respect for the preservation of originality. Exhibited at Stationshuset, Stockholm as a part of Fashionplay#6, 26-30/8 2009. |
